Sync SurveyTale responses to Google Sheets.

Google Sheets

Connect Google Sheets to add SurveyTale survey responses to a spreadsheet.

Prerequisites

  • A SurveyTale workspace with permission to manage integrations.
  • A Google account with access to the spreadsheet you want to use.
  • A spreadsheet and worksheet with columns for the response data you plan to sync.

Set up the integration

  1. In SurveyTale, open Workspace Settings -> Integrations.
  2. Select Google Sheets.
  3. Click Connect with Google Sheets.
  4. Authorize the OAuth flow and allow SurveyTale to access the spreadsheet you want to sync to.
  5. Return to SurveyTale and select the spreadsheet and worksheet.
  6. Map SurveyTale fields to sheet columns. Common mappings include survey name, response ID, submission time, contact email, and individual answer fields.
  7. Save the integration.

How response sync works

After the integration is saved, SurveyTale adds each new completed response as a new row in the selected worksheet. Columns are filled using the field mapping you configured.

SurveyTale keeps the original response in SurveyTale. Editing a row in Google Sheets does not update the original response.

Notes and troubleshooting

  • Keep the mapped header row and columns in place. If you move, rename, or delete mapped columns, update the mapping in SurveyTale.
  • If the spreadsheet is not listed during setup, confirm your Google account can open it and reconnect the integration.
  • If a sync fails because the worksheet is protected, update the sheet permissions or choose a worksheet SurveyTale can write to.
  • For long text answers, make sure the destination column is formatted to display text clearly.
